Update: Evacuation Monday 10th March
Author: Amanda Evans Date Posted:10 March 2025

5pm Monday 10th March
This is starting to feel like groundhog day!
We continue to watch river levels and creek rises of the Oxley Creek Catchment which surrounds our location at the Brisbane Markets. There are now major flood warnings for the Bremer River at Ipswich and its relevant creeks (Laidley, Lockyer and Warrill Creek). This means that we need to stay vigilant to the ongoing flood risk of the lower reaches of the Brisbane river and its potential for flood water to enter the Brisbane Markets site.
As a result, we have decided that we cannot begin our journey of re-opening the shop tomorrow. Until we have further information to suggest that river levels have peaked and we are unlikely to see any further significant rises, the risk of returning stock remains too great. We also wish to ensure the safety of staff on-site whilst we complete the re-stocking and road access has been impacted today due to rising river levels.
We will continue to post updates and be assured, we are very keen to return to "business as usual" as soon as possible. The closure of our business is very difficult and knowing that we are disrupting our customers is upsetting.
Thankyou again for the encouragement and support we have received.
